A Love Song to Remember | A Classic Wedding at The Biltmore Ballrooms

I love it when a wedding has a theme. And I’m not talking about the kind of theme where cheesy costumes and obnoxious props take over the party – Instead, I mean an underlying motif that allows a couple’s love story to subtly emerge and make a stylistic impact no guest can forget.

For Alexis and Terrance’s end-of-the-summer wedding at The Biltmore Ballroom in Atlanta, I combined a little history of their love story as a couple with the groom’s professional talent for an idea that was beautiful, timeless and utterly romantic. That theme was music.

For starters, Terrance is a talented composer, and he’s been garnering those talents toward courting Alexis since they first started dating. Throughout their relationship, he’s written her countless love songs – a playlist of romantic perfection that led to the perfect wedding day love song, of course, written by him. He hand selected every song and each musician for the reception’s playlist, quite literally putting his style stamp on the event as the music never stopped. With the “On A Perfect Note” motif as the central element to the day, I worked to make everything come together like a perfectly composed piece of music – something that was both memorable and romantic.

I used a soft color palette of classic whites and gold that looked both elegant and regal against the intricate architecture inside the Biltmore Ballrooms. It also gave us the perfect canvas to let the personality of this couple truly pop. From dramatic drapes framing the ceremony under a sparkling chandelier, to a creative, personal program that offered insight into the couple’s personalities, a statuesque cake with fine details and the exquisite paper adornments on the tables, everything carried a classic and elegant feel – which like a good song, never goes out of style.

That included our bride, Alexis, who was the perfect complement to a beautiful ballroom cloaked in romantic tunes and a little bit of sparkle in a romantic silhouette made of intricate beading. She absolutely glowed against her group of bridesmaids who made a statement in long black gowns, carrying big white bouquets.

It’s always my favorite part of a wedding when I get to watch the bride and groom see their wedding for the first time. I get to catch that first reaction on their faces, seeing their vision finally come to life after months of planning and prepping. Alexis and Terrance were one of my favorites – both completely overjoyed and giddy when they walked into their reception room. That part was my dream come true.
