Geeky Wedding at Ponce City Market in Atlanta

When Candyce and Jason came to me for their geeky wedding I was intrigued to say the least! But once I quickly realized they wanted a beautiful wedding to reflect their personalities that would be an unforgettable experience for their guests, I was up for the challenge! Together we created playfully elegant wedding with sci-fi geek charm.

Candyce and Jason’s wedding stationery design centered around a custom graphic image of the “geeky hallows”. We then used the triangle and circle shapes throughout the wedding design.

Ponce City Market, a historical building turned trendy mixed-used development, was the perfect venue with it’s eclectic feel and rooftop space. The girls had a blast getting ready at one of the loft apartments at Ponce City.

The guys got ready at the W Midtown, a short drive from Ponce City Market.

Instead of traditional flower boutonnieres, all of the guys wore custom fabric fleur pins and received custom cuff links as a nod to the groom’s favorite comics and super hero movies.

The ceremony took place on the rooftop at Ponce City Market. Gold draping and candlelight created lots of soft lighting. Stars and art deco candle holders hung against the backdrop to tie in the Starry night theme.

The best moment ever – we surprised the bride and groom with storm troopers at the end of the aisle after they said “I Do”!

The cocktail hour also took place on the rooftop of Ponce City Market with a gorgeous view of the Atlanta skyline!

Instead of the traditional guest book, we had a Dr. Who poster created for guests to sign

The escort card display incorporated the couple’s monogram with a painting that resembled Starry Night. Guests were able to take cards from the painting with their seating assignments for dinner.

Candyce and Jason were able to take photos on the rooftop carnival before heading down to the reception.

The reception on the 2nd floor of Ponce City Market was a blend of modern and luxe design details in shades of navy and yellow with plenty of kitschy elements.

The place settings were complete with silver chargers and triangle menu cards. The table numbers matched the guests’ escort cards with symbols from the couples’ favorite movies and comics. The opposite side of the table numbers included a thank you to the couples’ guests that traveled near and far to be with them.

The wedding cake included a display of 3 cakes, with a center topper of Harry Potter “Always” and Golden Snitches inside large gumpaste flowers. Instead of slicing cake, we served an assortment of cake bites and pies for dessert. The bride and groom both have family in Kansas CIty and the bride is from Chicago. So for favors they mixed a local KC popcorn called Topsy’s and Chicago’s Garrett’s popcorn.

The lounges were beautiful set against the venue’s exposed brick walls. The bars included a fun fair warning to guests. And there were plenty of hidden gems tucked into the decor. Since this wedding was the weekend of Halloween, we also hid candy around the room for the kids to find along with the fun toys.

My favorite detail of the wedding design included a suspended flower installation with hanging lights. It was the perfect setting for a magical dance floor.

At the end of the night no one could resist the light saber exit – even grandma!

Such a fun wedding perfect for Candyce and Jason. I know they will have a lifetime filled with magic and geeky charm – just like their wedding day!
