Undeniably, one of the best parts about what I do is getting to bring fairytales to life, but none were quite like the glittering winter wonderland Quinceañera I helped design for Allison. From glamorous icy elements and elegant fantastical characters to sweet sentimental moments and a decadent feast, no detail was left untouched and allowed this birthday girl to celebrate in a way she’d never forget.
Marking a major milestone in a young girl’s life, the Quinceañera blends her 15th birthday party with a rite of passage to symbolize the entrance into womanhood. Getting to help this sweet family plan Allison’s was both a joy and an honor, and the fact that we could let our imaginations run wild to carry out her dreams was a dream come true for me, too!
We transformed South Carolina’s Westfield Greenville event venue into a modern winter wonderland plucked straight from a storybook. The experience began as soon as the guests arrived, offering plenty of photo-worthy moments, such as the breathtaking backdrop wall with glowing neon strips and dramatic floral garland, both artfully framing Allison’s monogram.
A snow queen violinist entertaining guests atop a 4-foot lighted cube, and silver and white balloons trailing sparkling silver fringe to stretch across the ceiling toward an 8-foot floral and balloon installation, allowing for memorable moments (if you could take your eyes off of them) across the entire space.
An icy wonderland setting the tone, we were able to infuse more fun, interactive details like a stilt-walking winter fairy doling out acrylic snowflake escort cards.
Drawing back the drapes, we revealed a magical dinner setting for family and friends. Hidden until that moment, blue lighting and a dreamy fringe ceiling treatment invited the party to take their seats at tables drenched in shades of white and silver and dotted with candlelight, white floral, ice chargers and silver foil snowflake menu cards. Not one detail was left untouched by the snowy storybook theme.
But what’s any fairytale without the princess? Accompanied by her grandfathers, our guest of honor made her grand entrance in a gorgeous icy blue and silver ballgown to watch the sweetest slideshow with her mom and dad.
Allison participated in the ceremonial changing of her shoes as her mom removed her sneakers and placed on her feet a pair of beautiful heels to further symbolize the journey from little girl into womanhood.
Allison danced with her dad as the slow roll of fog filled the dance floor. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house–which only heightened the surreal emotions of the event when snow began to fall from above.
As if that winter weather wonder wasn’t sweet enough, creative desserts abounded, dressing a decadent table with frosted white doughnuts, sparkling chocolate pops, cheesecake cups, cookies, and more. A 5-tiered, floral-drenched white cake served as its magnificent centerpiece, satisfying any whimsical sweet tooth with beauty and taste.
After singing happy birthday and making a toast to the guest of honor, we transitioned to open the dance floor, where this group spent every second of the remainder of the evening (aside from short breaks to refuel on late night snacks of sliders and fries).
For such an incredible blend of elegance and fantasy to meet equally vibrant energy and love, this was one family I loved working with, and a party none of us will be able to stop thinking about! Congratulations to Allison!
