The BET Her Awards 2023: An Ode to Black Brilliance and Beauty in Atlanta

When Black excellence finds its muse in Atlanta, the outcome is nothing less than a symphony of style, grace, and impact. That’s precisely what the 2023 BET Her Awards, hosted at the stunning Thompson Atlanta Buckhead — delivered. 

As a monumental Women’s History Month celebration, this event was more than a star-studded gathering. It was rather a majestic experience uniting Black Love, Black Joy, Black Pride, and Black Power into ONE unforgettable night.

Step onto the Pink Carpet — an audacious reimagining of the classic red carpet. Here, you could instantly know you’re not just part of an event but part of history. The mixture of bold black, elegant gold, and feminine pink made for the perfect accent to a night hosting powerful women and recognizing resilient Black excellence.

Draped in the sensuous elegance of champagne satin, this prelude to the BET Her Awards featured custom-designed step and repeat walls with 3D logos and floral garlands that stretched infinitely. Doing so, they lent an air of everlasting elegance. Moreover, celebrity interviews unfolded as intimate conversations rather than stilted Q&As which is a welcome presence at an event this special.

As guests strolled through the pre-function space of the BET Her Awards, a custom wall gloriously showcased the honorees. On one side were their photographs, and on the other, their names were crowned with glorious pink floral arrangements— exactly what they deserved. The statement was clear: These are the trailblazers, and tonight, they are our queens.

Walking into the ballroom was akin to stepping into a world sculpted with nuance and deep intentionality. Picture a blush, burgundy, black, and gold palette embodying the essence of power, sophistication, and pure romance. 

As part of our event planning in Atlanta, we always strive for excellence and the highest attention to detail. Blush satin walls cocooned the room, but the alternating blush velvet and sequin linen cloaked the tables in textured grandeur. The floral arrangements were nothing short of masterpieces, and the candles that surrounded them strategically boasted ambience. Even the place settings exuded luxury, finalized with rose gold menu cards.

The stage, the hotspot of the night’s most momentous recognitions, was audacious in black. It was even more punctuated by an LED video wall awash with overflowing blush and burgundy florals. It was more than a backdrop; it was an altar of achievement.

But make no mistake — the euphoria didn’t end when the last award was given. The Tesserae Rooftop beckoned guests for the After Glow, an astral oasis under the Atlanta sky. This post-awards celebration took purpose to new heights, mostly by highlighting black female artists through Walmart’s Black & Unlimited program.

The double-sided art gallery walls featured their creative genius. This ensured the night’s focus stayed locked on empowerment and representation.

The custom bar signs illuminated the signature cocktails. But the thematic pillows were the true symbols lounging the heavenly furniture. 

And then there was the Portrait Studio, a 10-foot blush frame with a 3D logo and cascading florals masterfully captured by the gifted Sophia Barrett. As event designers in Atlanta, we created this set to be impressive!

The 2023 BET Her Awards was more than an evening; it was an epoch in a long legacy of celebrating incredible women in the Black community. As the luxury event designers behind this monumental happening, it was an honor we have directly contributed to Black excellence. And we vow to keep doing so!
